Guatemala Yoga + Service Retreat

Together with Mikki Trowbridge Yoga, the Indigo Yoga Studio and Salem yoga community heads to Antigua, Guatemala November 11-18, 2017.

Join the Indigo Yoga Studio community for a 7 night, 8 day yoga and service retreat in Antigua, Guatemala, hosted in partnership with The Village Experience.

Retreat Overview
Community comes in all forms. We build community when we step into a yoga class and connect with our fellow yogis. We live in a local community. And we are a part of global community. This retreat is about celebrating all forms of community. Indigo Yoga Studio teachers, Mikki Trowbridge and Zohra Campbell will be gathering our Salem yoga community for a yoga retreat that allows you to both refill your cup, and to serve, while filling your days with yoga, travel, tourism, relaxation, cultural education, and service.

We hope you’ll join us for this once in a lifetime experience. More details can be found below and at the links provided. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to email Mikki.

Each day of the retreat will begin with a yoga practice, led by either Mikki or Zohra. These practices will be all levels, yoga classes and will help us to integrate and process our experiences on this retreat.

More About Mikki

An Oregon yoga and SUP yoga teacher and creator of Yoga + Beer pairings, Mikki Trowbridge aspires to both inform and inspire through her teachings. She is known for her anatomically informed and soulfully inspired yoga classes that promise to be a little nerdy, but always fun, flowing and accompanied by phenomenal playlists. Her style creates space for yogis to be challenged and to grow their practice, but also to find ease, confidence, laughter and yogi friends. In addition to teaching yoga, Mikki also enjoys volunteering and inspiring others to find their passion for service, traveling, sipping on craft beers and getting outdoors for a hike, a paddle or to catch a sunset.

More About Zohra

Zohra is passionate about helping and encouraging people to unwind and alleviate tight, painful, and congested areas in their bodies. Drawing on her yoga training in styles from Iyengar, Anusara, and Forrest yoga, with her strong focus on anatomy, clinical chiropractic experience, and spinal rehabilitation make the benefits of yoga accessible to every student. Working with Zohra, either in a yoga session or as a client, will help you overcome restrictions in your physical body- fascia, posture, muscular imbalances and in your mind- your thoughts, your habits. Through a career of teaching yoga and doing body work for more than 20 years, Zohra feels more excited every day about helping people find and release the patterns and fears that hold them back-whether physical or emotional.

Our retreat has time built in for you to have unplanned, free time to explore Antigua. We have three full days that are meant for exploring the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua, with its beautiful cobblestone streets, ancient ruins, local churches and skyline of volcanoes. We will have opportunities to learn about the importance of the cocoa industry in the region and participate in a chocolate making class (YUM!). And of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to appreciate the local cuisine.

Your retreat investment covers everything you need to have a relaxed, enjoyable, well-planned retreat and service experience, including 7 nights lodging, airport transfers, in-country transportation, most meals (see itinerary for meals that are on your own), Antigua walking tour, chocolate making class, coordination of all volunteer activities and daily yoga. Your yoga teachers are both volunteering their time for this experience in an effort to minimize your cost and with the heart of service.

Registration & final payment deadline: August 1, 2017

Double occupancy, per person: $1899
Single occupancy, per person: $2299

The Village Experience will be coordinating three full days of service for us with their agency partners in surrounding villages, Ceylan, Zapote and San Miguel Duenas. Our projects will be focused around education, medical access and food insecurity in remote, impoverished villages. Most of our work will be with two primary agencies: Vamos Adelante and Open Windows Foundation. Part of our service experience will be simply meeting members of these village communities, visiting their homes, sharing meals, and connecting. In addition, we will be visiting classrooms, delivering meals, and helping at a medical clinic.
